Liability Adjuster (Kudos)

The role of Liability Adjuster involves the core elements outlined below, in no particular order, albeit the Board reserves the right to vary the role according to the needs of the business from time to time.

Key responsibilities

  • The Adjuster will be required to engage in the handling and investigation of claims pursued/submitted in relation to the following classes of business:
    • Employers Liability Insurance
    • Public Liability Insurance
    • Products Liability Insurance
    • Contractors All Risks Insurance
    • Professional Indemnity Insurance
    • First Party
  • To record their billable time accurately and in accordance with agreed targets set by their Line Manager.
  • Consideration and understanding of policy cover/principals of indemnity.
  • Registration of claims with the Compensation Recovery Unit, and the handling of recoverable benefits / NHS charges.
  • Arrange appointments as required, in order to facilitate the completion of all necessary enquiries relative to both Policy and Legal Liability.
  • Interviewing all relevant witnesses in anticipation of the preparation of witness statements as appropriate.
  • Collation of all evidence and documentation that is required for disclosure / consideration of the claim and in assessing the liability arguments.
  • Consideration of the nature and extent of injury / loss / damage.
  • Preparation of Investigation Reports in accordance with KLAL / client templates. The report will set out our findings relative to the evidence collated and will detail our factual evidence and recommendations relative to both legal and policy liability.
  • Deal with Direct Claimants in accordance with ABI guidelines.
  • Cooperating with their Line Manager / Director in relation to the Company’s QA process and in relation to any Audit requirements.
  • To handle claims, in accordance with Insurers’ instructions and/or the relevant Pre-Action Protocol to conclusion.
  • Preparation of all letters and email communications required in the conduct of the claim, corresponding with Claimants, Claimant Solicitors, Defendant Solicitors, Policyholders, colleagues, Insurance Brokers, Experts, opposing Insurers and Loss Adjusters.
  • Liaison with Insurers, their Solicitors, Barristers, Medical and all other Experts as necessary for the effective conduct of each claim.
  • Achieving settlement or defending claims on the most favourable terms.
  • Where appropriate assisting in the preparation of a case for trial.
  • To follow and comply with all QA procedures.
  • To act always in accordance with the levels of financial authority afforded to the Adjuster by Insurer Client and/or the Management Team.
  • The Adjuster will be required to observe Anti-Money Laundering Legislation in line with the Company Anti-Money Laundering Policy.
  • At all times the requirements of the Company’s GDPR and Data Protection Policy will be observed.
  • To act and deal with all claims in accordance with the relevant Protocols and associated Deadlines.
  • To handle, where required, payments and / or funds in accordance with Client and / or FCA requirements.

Experience / skills

  • Full Driving license for field-based Adjusters.
  • Excellent Interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written).
  • A willingness to learn and to apply what is learnt.
  • An ability to work in a team or individually.
  • An ability to work to challenging deadlines.
  • The ability to remain professional and calm even in the most testing circumstances.
