To provide an exceptional service to brokers, support senior underwriters and manage assistant underwriters.
Key responsibilities/ tasks
Responsible for the following:
- Underwriting and placement of risks.
- Managing Virtu SLAs.
- Supporting the MD in growing and nurturing stakeholder relationships.
- Accountable for the renewal and new business lists.
- Accountable for management and maintenance of rating guides created in Excel.
- Managing the performance of underwriting assistant/s.
- Managing the wholesale profit performance of the following books of business: (Area Specific).
- Develop a strong working knowledge of (Area specific).
- Develop relationships with insurers.
- Grow the (Area specific) book to the level where we could facilitate another insurer.
Underwriting class responsibility – following the guidance set out in the various binding authorities issued to the business.

Results to Deliver
- Manage the Virtu team to issue all outgoing correspondence in a timely manner as per the business’ SLAs.
- Widen the offering on the Virtu Platform.
- Increase (Area specific) GWP by X%.
- Continue to look for opportunity to learn and challenge your understanding.

Qualifications
- Cert CII II – or to be completed as part of role.
Experience / skills
- A minimum of three experience in (Area specific)
-  Understand the general insurance market and the products available to the Company’s Brokers.
- A good understanding of underwriting principle
- Emerging ability to underwrite, rate and assess risk
- Competent communication skills with external stake holders
- Working knowledge of the claims process
- Managing relationships with brokers and insurers
- Competent user of insurance client system; Acturis an advantage
- Confident in using Microsoft Suite
