Overview and key points
We’ve been working with Alectro.io, our virtual sustainability officer, to calculate our annual carbon footprint.
We have analysed that data and come up with a range of actions that will help us to reduce our impact on the environment – small actions that can make a big difference.
Here’s an update on what we’ve done so far:
We’re paperless
As a client of Partners&, you’ll receive all of your insurance documentation via email (unless you request a hard copy). This not only reduces our environmental impact but improves speed and efficiency, ensuring our communications reach you without any unnecessary delays.
We’re saying no to single-use plastic
It’s a hard habit to break, but we’re getting there! Our offices are single-use plastic free zones and we’re encouraging all Partners& colleagues to refuse, re-use, re-fill and recycle wherever possible. We also promote plastic free at all of our events, and one of our favourite pieces of “merch” is our glass water bottles!
We’re taking a firm stance with our IT hardware
Whilst we can’t do without this essential equipment, we can choose brands which have a net zero plan in place and make sure we’re supporting organisations who put sustainability at the forefront of what they do.
And when it comes to our old IT kit, we’ve partnered with an IT waste recycling provider who recycle as much as possible and dispose of the items that can’t be recycled with fully certified systems and processes.
We’re travelling less by car
We’ve introduced our Meeting Policy to formalise our sustainable meeting guidelines, which include:
- The rule of 3 – either meeting three or more people, or three or more meetings during the course of the day that can easily be covered within one driving route
- Taking the train instead of driving where possible
- Using Teams or Zoom for meetings where it’s appropriate – particularly for internal meetings.
We’re reducing our overall carbon footprint
The steps we’ve taken so far have had a positive impact on our carbon footprint with a reduction from our first year of reporting. We’re taking action from these findings to see how we can further improve and are in the process of submitting the data for our our next financial year.
We’re collaborating with our landlords
This year, our aim is to move to sustainable energy suppliers and install EV charging points as a means to do what we can to monitor and measure our consumption and output in our workplaces.
We’re promoting our own Electric Vehicle salary sacrifice scheme
Working with our Ecosystem Partner, Pike & Bambridge, our EV salary sacrifice scheme is a great way to encourage our colleagues to switch to electric vehicles in a hassle-free, cost-effective way.
We’re doing more with our charity partners and supporting our local communities
Plenty of things in the pipeline from volunteer days to 5 aside football and bake sales! We’re committed to giving back to our local communities and being a trusted partner to local business owners.
Coming soon: We’ll be asking our colleagues for their thoughts on all things sustainability to get some real insights – watch this space for our report.
