Celebrating five years

Overview and key points

From launching during the Covid-19 pandemic becoming an award-winning insurance advisory business, maintaining our clear focus on our clients and the people who serve clients, has been our winning formula.

Being in business over the last five years has been challenging, regardless of sector. As insurance risk advisers, we’ve seen first-hand how some businesses have struggled, how others have weathered the storm and how some have prospered.

Throughout that period, we have stayed true to our founding purpose: to challenge what we perceive to be the status quo in the insurance industry, one of diminishing service standards, lack of care and increasing focus on shareholder returns at the expense of clients. Instead, we have committed to returning to the best traditions of broking to enhance our clients’ experience and to create a dynamic workplace for our talented team.

Five milestones in five years

We have sought to design and deliver a distinctive proposition for our clients.

In 2020, we launched our first Investor in CustomersI survey to obtain feedback from our clients on how we could continuously improve our service. Those views, which pointed to clients wanting us to anticipate their needs and build quality relationships with them, were instrumental in developing our thinking around what would become our client journey.

In 2021, we introduced our Belonging and Inclusion programme, which won two industry awards in the year. Since then, the programme has evolved to set the sustainability standard in the broking industry, creating a sustainability toolkit for our clients and increasing our engagement in the communities in which we operate.

In 2022, we founded our Partners& Academy to equip our colleagues with the skills to deliver exceptional advice and client service. The Academy consists of six faculties: leadership, advisory, technical, regulatory, line management and client service. Our Leadership Academy has recently received accreditation from the Chartered Insurance Institute.

In 2023, we established our distinctive client journey that delivers client engagement and advice, and showcases our Partners& Difference resilience model, our claims proposition and our client service brand, which when combined, represents a compelling proposition.

In 2024, we launched a new underwriting capability focused on fine art, jewellery and collections (including specialist areas such as whisky casks) to support our private client and Scottish teams, and most recently have launched innovative solutions for brewers and distillers and the active leisure sector.

Looking ahead to the next five years

This year, the theme of our annual colleague get together was “Loving our clients”. The aim was to remind our people of our purpose – to deliver a better way for our clients. Our mission is as clear today as it was five years ago – to support our clients to understand what insurance they have and why they have it so that they can navigate a complex and changing world and achieve their personal goals and business ambitions.

As we look ahead to the next five years, the one thing we know is certain: we will continue to focus our attention on the needs of our clients.

“Loving our clients” means maintaining a clear focus on our clients and the people who service clients. Our aim is to help our clients to understand what insurance they have and why they have it
