Overview and key points
Our ethos is more than just words on a website.
We’re here to challenge the status quo and establish a new level of service – holding the insurance industry to account and proving there is a different way.
We’re combining the best traditions of broking, including technical advice and client centricity, with modern thinking to enhance the client experience and create a dynamic workplace for our team.
But don’t just take our word for it…
With permission from our client – XMA – we’re sharing what “advice that makes the difference” means to them.
XMA is a leading IT Solutions & Services company that provides technology solutions to organisations across the UK. While XMA excelled in delivering technological solutions, the company struggled with attracting and retaining top talent, largely due to a weak employee value proposition and a low Glassdoor rating. Additionally, XMA faced challenges with employee health and wellbeing, which further impacted their overall performance and productivity.
Challenge
XMA encountered several critical issues. They really struggled with poor talent attraction and retention, leading to difficulties in hiring. A low Glassdoor score compounded this issue, creating a negative perception of the company’s work culture and employee satisfaction.
Their employees reported issues related to poor mental and physical wellbeing, which led to reduced productivity, engagement, and morale. They lacked robust measures to proactively address employee health, resulting in absenteeism and presenteeism (employees being physically present but not fully functioning due to illness or stress).
XMA had no formal policy to manage sickness and absenteeism. Without a sickness management strategy, there was no way to support employees in early notification of illness, ensuring their safe return to work, or providing financial aid in cases of long-term sickness.
Support
When the Partners& team was appointed, they took the time to understand the root case of the problem and developed a solution to address their core challenges. They explained the advantages of implementing an income protection policy, which would offer critical financial support to employees in the event of long-term illness, while also benefitting the employer by helping to manage sickness-related absence. This solution ensured that employees could recover without financial stress and that XMA could mitigate the impact of extended absences, providing peace of mind for both parties.
Additionally, Partners& introduced YuLife, which offered a holistic approach to employee wellbeing. YuLife’s platform provided a solid foundation for promoting social, physical, and mental health, offering daily engagement with activities designed to boost overall wellbeing. The YuLife approach supported employees’ health and improved productivity and morale by creating a more balanced and proactive work environment.
- Enhancing employee benefits and wellbeing: YuLife offered XMA an award-winning insurance package that includes an all-encompassing health and wellbeing experience. It includes income protection policies that provided peace of mind for both employees and employers in the event of long-term sickness, ensuring financial support when needed.
- Promoting daily engagement in healthy habits: YuLife introduced a platform that incentivised employees to engage in activities supporting their mental, physical, and social wellbeing. These daily habits helped foster a proactive approach to health and wellness, reducing absenteeism and presenteeism.
- Boosting engagement with XMA’s existing benefits: XMA had a range of employee benefits in place, but engagement with these offerings was previously low. Through the introduction of YuLife, the company saw a significant increase in employees taking advantage of the benefits already available to them, including health and wellbeing programs
- Implementing a sickness and absence management strategy: YuLife worked with XMA to design a robust sickness and absence management policy. This strategy ensured early notification of employee illnesses, a clear return-to-work plan, and financial support for employees facing long-term health challenges, helping reduce the financial and emotional burden on staff.
Perform
The collaboration between Partners& and YuLife centered their solution around XMA’s specific needs, leading to significant improvements:
- Improved employee engagement: The tailored approach to health and wellbeing drove a sharp increase in employee engagement. Staff embraced the daily wellness activities, contributing to better mental, physical, and social health, which in turn boosted productivity.
- Enhanced talent attraction and retention: With a strengthened employee value proposition and a more attractive benefits package, XMA’s Glassdoor score improved, enhancing its reputation, and making the company more appealing to top talent in the competitive IT market.
- Clear ROI: XMA saw a measurable return on investment with increased employee satisfaction, stronger engagement with existing benefits, and an overall uplift in workforce morale. The holistic, employee-focused solution resulted in a healthier, happier, and more engaged team.
This collaborative effort positioned XMA as a forward-thinking employer with a deep commitment to employee wellbeing.
"Our collaboration with YuLife allowed us to design a truly bespoke solution for XMA. By combining an income protection policy with YuLife’s wellbeing platform, we addressed both the financial and health needs of employees, while helping XMA manage absenteeism more effectively. The results speak for themselves—XMA now has a healthier, more engaged workforce, and a clear competitive edge in attracting top talent."
