We’ve been made aware of an important development which may affect your security system and your insurance. Whether we support your personal or your business insurance needs, this information is relevant to you.
BT is withdrawing its Redcare alarm signalling service from the market.
You may have seen the recent news reporting BT’s decision to withdraw their Redcare service and operation from the market with effect from 1 August 2025.
What does this mean for you?
BT Redcare is a specialist service, and as such, your insurance will have some important conditions that we want to make sure are clear, so that you can make an informed decision going forward.
To remain compliant with your insurance programme requirements, you will need to find an alternative solution to BT Redcare’s solution. In doing so, there are several things to keep in mind:
You may receive calls and communications from alarm maintenance companies and alarm suppliers offering a wide range of solutions.
You may be unaware of the technological specifications delivered through Redcare and it’s important that the replacement service you choose provides a like for like performance level.
There are a limited number of potential alternative suppliers. Like for like alarm signalling products include:
- CSL Dualcom Gradeshift Pro DP3
- Dual path Alarm Transmission System with performance level DP3 certificated to BSEN50136-1:2012
Your alternative system should also have the following technological specifications:
- It should be installed by a company regulated by the National Security Inspectorate (NSI) which incorporates the National Approval Council for Security Systems (NACOSS) or a company regulated by the Security Systems and Alarm Inspection Board (SSAIB).
- It should be maintained in full working order under an annual maintenance contract with an appropriate alarm maintenance company or installer regulated by the National Security Inspectorate (NSI) which incorporates the National Approval Council for Security Systems (NACOSS) or a company regulated by the Security Systems and Alarm Inspection Board (SSAIB).
- Your insurer may require evidence of the maintenance agreement in the event of a claim.
Next steps
The closer we get to 1 August 2025, the more likely installation bottlenecks and product shortages will begin to occur, so we recommend that you act quickly to ensure your installation is delivered in time.
Rather than leave you with a problem, we want to provide a solution. Below is a list of suppliers who are either clients or contacts we have had for many years.
We’re here for you. If you have any questions at all, please contact your usual Partners& adviser who will be able to talk you through what you need to do next.
